Michael blackwell, LNC CLASS V
President, Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina
“Leadership North Carolina was a transforming experience for me. It was a first class experience from orientation in Boone to graduation in Asheville. In addition to the spectacular sessions, I made lots of friends with whom I stay in touch. An example is classmate Jack Betts, Hall of Fame journalist and all-star musician.
I was humbled to receive both the Stanley Frank Class Award and the L. Richardson Preyer Alumni Award. In addition to serving on the LNC Executive Committee for six years, I chaired the Search Committee for one of LNC’s past Executive Directors.
The greatest blessing, however, was getting to know Marian Phillips, LNC’s Founder, who was transitioning out of the Executive Director position the year I graduated. She now serves with distinction as a Trustee of the organization I lead, The Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina.
Leadership North Carolina continues to build on the solid foundation that Marian Phillips began. Brian Etheridge is a consummate and visionary leader. LNC is in good hands and I would recommend participation by anyone who wants to know the “story behind the story” of “the Goodliest Land Under the Cope of Heaven.”
