Schedule Overview

Tuesday, March 7

  • 2:00 – 4:00 pm: Tour at Corning Optical Fiber Manufacturing Plant (optional). Advance RSVP through attendance survey required.
    • Arrive by 1:45. Please arrive by 1:45 pm to check in and go through security. Guests must be through security by 1:55 for the tour to start promptly at 2:00. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
    • Photo ID Required. You must present photo ID, and the name on the ID must reflect the details included on the spreadsheet shared by email. Review your listing and share any updates by February 27. If you are not a US citizen, let the LNC team know right away.
    • Attire: Business casual attire. Shoes must be of sturdy, non-canvas material with skid-resistant soles. No high heels. No shoes with open toes, heels, sides, or tops. No exposed skin on feet or legs. Pants required (no skirts or dresses).
    • Leave Belongings in Cars. Lock everything but your photo ID and your key in your vehicle.
    • Safety Glasses. Red safety glasses will be provided to and must be worn by all visitors who wear contact lenses.
  • 4:00 – 5:30 pm: Free Time
    • The Corning Plant is just a few minutes from the UNCW reception location, and both are about 15 minutes from the hotel in downtown Wilmington. There’s probably just enough time to go from Corning to the Hotel and back out for the reception, but it may be tight. If you attend the tour and plan to join the reception, you may decide you’d rather use the gap to explore campus or make a few phone calls instead of rushing and backtracking.
    • If you do stop by the hotel before the reception, we recommend you use street parking or other short-term options to avoid delays with valet parking and vehicle retrieval in this short window. (See valet parking note below.)
  • 5:30 pm: Session Reception at UNC Wilmington. Advance RSVP through attendance survey required. Business casual.

Wednesday, March 8

  • 8:00 am: Breakfast (optional). Advance RSVP through attendance survey required. Business casual attire.
  • 8:30 am – 4:00 pm: Session programming (required)
  • 6:30 pm: Class dinner (required). Casual attire.

Thursday, March 9

  • 8:00 am: Breakfast (optional). Advance RSVP through attendance survey required. Business casual attire.
  • 8:30 am: Session programming (required). Business casual.
  • 2:30 pm: Session adjourns

Notes on Attire

All events for this session are business casual attire, with the exception of the Wednesday class dinner. “Business casual” means you don’t need to be in a suit but you should look polished and professional. Class dinners are always casual attire.  Be sure to review the specific attire requirements for the Corning tour.

We work hard to have a comfortable room temperature in all meeting locations, but “comfortable” is different for everyone.  We recommend layers or bringing a light sweater or jacket just in case.
