Schedule Overview and Shuttle Details
To help navigate campus construction and parking challenges, shuttle service will be provided between the base hotel and our meeting location through Trinity Transport. Two vans will circulate between the TownePlace Suites hotel and Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University (ASU) according to the schedule below. The Directions page (to come) will include shuttle details (free) and details for on-campus parking ($20/day).
Note that standard hotel check in time is 4:00 pm. If the hotel has rooms available early, they may be able to accommodate a few early check-ins. This is up to the hotel, and they have made no promises. Otherwise, please plan to check in when you return from the evening reception.
Tuesday, October 7
- 12:40 – 1:35 pm: Shuttle runs from hotel to Plemmons. Final departure at 1:35.
- 2:00 pm: Session begins at ASU in the Plemmons Student Union Parkway Ballroom. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to grab a snack and get settled.
- 4:45 pm: Class picture outside the Plemmons Student Union Solarium
- 5:00 pm: Session reception in the Plemmons Student Union Solarium
- 6:00 – 7:00 pm: Shuttle runs from Plemmons to the hotel. Final departure at 7:00.
Wednesday, October 8
- 7:15 – 8:15 am: Shuttle runs from the hotel to Plemmons. Final departure at 8:15.
- 8:00 am: Breakfast (optional–advance RSVP required through attendance survey) – Parkway Ballroom
- 8:30 am: Session starts – Parkway Ballroom
- 4:15 pm: Free time
- 4:15 – 5:15 pm: Shuttle runs from Plemmons to the hotel continuously. Final departure at 5:15.
- 6:45 pm: Class dinner (required) – Grandview Ballroom at Kidd Brewer Stadium
Thursday, October 9
- Hotel checkout prior to session
- 7:15 – 8:15 am: Shuttle runs from the hotel to Plemmons. Final departure at 8:15.
- 8:00 am: Breakfast (optional–advance RSVP required through attendance survey) – Parkway Ballroom
- 8:30 am: Session starts – Parkway Ballroom
- 12:30 pm: Session adjourns
- 12:30 pm: Lunch (optional–advance RSVP required through attendance survey) – Parkway Ballroom
- 12:30 – 1:30 pm: Shuttle runs from Plemmons to the hotel. Final departure at 1:30.
Attire
Attire for all Orientation session programming at Appalachian State University is business casual unless otherwise noted. “Business casual” means you don’t need to be in a suit but you should look polished and professional. We will go straight from the Tuesday afternoon session to the class picture and then the welcoming reception. If you have a favorite picture day outfit, wear it on Tuesday.
Attire for the required Wednesday class dinner at the Grandview Ballroom at Kidd Brewer Stadium is casual.
We work hard to have a comfortable room temperature in all meeting locations, but “comfortable” is different for everyone. We recommend layers or bringing a light sweater or jacket just in case.
Meals and Snacks
LNC believes in keeping you well-fueled by presenting a variety of options at meals and breaks. Breakfasts are always optional but encouraged. Breakfasts provide an extra opportunity to engage with your classmates, reflect on session content, and settle in for the day ahead. You will have an opportunity to RSVP for breakfast through the attendance survey. The Wednesday class dinner is required and counts towards the program attendance requirement.
