Barbara Ashford

Barbara Ashford began her career at Piedmont Natural Gas in 2005 and has held various positions in Planning and Rates, Commercial Operations and Legislative & Community Affairs.  She currently holds the position of Director of Natural Gas Community Relations.  She leads a team of community relations managers who manages all philanthropic giving on behalf of Piedmont.  Barbara has also served as interim Community Relations Manager in South Carolina in addition to her position as the department Coordinator during her tenure at Piedmont.

Barbara graduated from North Carolina State University with a double major in Business Management and Economics.  She serves on various internal natural gas committees and serves as liaison for the Piedmont grant making program that has merged with the Duke Energy Foundation.

In 2010, Barbara joined the Classroom Central Board of Directors and served until 2016.   She organized the annual School Tools supply drive at Piedmont Natural Gas, consistently surpassing campaign goals in support of Classroom Central’s mission to provide students in need with the tools to succeed in school.

Barbara will join the Charlotte chapter of the March of Dimes Board of Directors in 2019.  Premature birth is the #1 cause of death of babies in the United States. Barbara is very excited to join the efforts of the March of Dimes to ensure that all babies are born healthy and to educate mothers on the prevention of premature births.

Barbara resides in Charlotte, NC.  She enjoys going to movies, cycling, kickboxing and spending time with family and friends.
