Dr. Rasheeda Monroe attended East Carolina University and the Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC, where she was a Brody Scholar and graduated as a member of the AOA medical honor society in 2005; she completed a pediatric residency at UNC Children’s Hospital in 2008.  After working in private practice, she joined WakeMed Health and Hospitals in 2013 where she works with medical trainees and an interdisciplinary team to address the needs of many of Raleigh’s most vulnerable children and served as the Medical Director of Primary Care pediatrics until 2022.  She continues to serve as the Raleigh area Campus director to UNC School of Medicine; and the director to the Kenan Urban Scholars program at UNCSOM.  In 2021, Dr. Monroe led COVID19 vaccine efforts with the “Sister Circle” and her health equity team of volunteers, delivering over 14,000 doses of life-saving vaccines to people from vulnerable communities who have been most impacted by the COVID19 pandemic. She is married to her high school sweetheart and former ECU football player, Kevin Monroe and lives in Cary with their two football loving boys.
