Lee Ragsdale – LNC Class 22 and Vice Chair of the LNC Board of Directors

Lee Ragsdale serves as Senior Vice President, Energy Delivery for North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives in Raleigh, NC.

Lee is a recognized industry leader in discovering and delivering innovative energy solutions that make our grid more flexible and resilient while providing consumer-members new ways to manage energy use.  He testified before the US Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee on DER and microgrids, and the North Carolina Utilities Commission on the Distribution Operator, transmission planning, and integrating DER. He spearheads the cooperatives’ Distribution Operator initiative, integrating edge-of-grid resources, providing enhanced visibility and coordination across all 26 NC electric cooperatives for reliability on the grid.  Lee serves on the EPRI Research Advisory Committee, NERC Reliability Issues Steering Committee, and the Industry Advisory Board of the NCSU FREEDM Systems Center.

He has led teams at NCEMC in Resource Planning, Portfolio Management, and Asset Management, since 2007, and has been actively involved in cybersecurity, grid modernization and company-wide strategic planning.  Lee has been in the electric utility industry since 1991 having worked at Georgia Power, NewEnergy Associates, and Progress Energy Ventures prior to joining North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration in Economics from Georgia State University.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina.

Lee resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife and two college-age kids.  He is an active member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church and enjoys ultra-distance endurance events.
