Meredith Switzer, LNC XXVI

Homeward Bound of Western North Carolina
Meredith Switzer began as Executive Director for Homeward Bound of Western North Carolina, a regional homeless services and housing agency, in January 2019. She holds a B.A. in Broadcasting from UNC-Chapel Hill and a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University.
In January 2021, Meredith was the recipient of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Outstanding Woman in Nonprofit Leadership award. She is a member of Leadership Asheville’s Executive Directors Roundtable (LAEDR) program for the 2020-21 year and is a proud graduate of Leadership North Carolina XXVI, currently serving on the LNC 25th Anniversary Committee.
Meredith is a certified facilitator through Development Dimensions International (DDI) and for the past 25+ years has dedicated her career to finding solutions to challenging community issues – including food insecurity, access to mental health services, availability of affordable quality childcare, financial and economic literacy, and homelessness. From 2003-2011, she served as Executive Director for Junior Achievement of Western NC. As a nonprofit consultant from 2011-2019, she led successful fundraising campaigns for the YMCA and Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and also served as interim executive director for multiple non-profits experiencing organizational transitions.
Meredith’s history of board service includes Leadership Asheville, Junior League of Asheville, Partnership for Pastoral Counseling, Verner Early Learning Center, Asheville Parks & Greenways Foundation, American Red Cross, and Food Connection. She also served six consecutive years as the PTO President for Weaverville Schools. She currently serves on the WomanUP Committee for Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and is an appointee to the Homeless Initiative Advisory Committee for the City of Asheville, chairing their Nominating Sub-Committee.
She resides in the beautiful mountain community of Weaverville, NC, with her husband and teenage sons.
